About this book
On a quiet, prosperous London side street, amid tidy shop fronts, stands a neglected building with a door that has no bell or knocker, scorched by tramps' matches and scratched by children at play. During a Sunday walk, Mr. Enfield tells his companion a story about that door: a small, sinister man who trampled a child in the lamplit calm and walked over her without breaking stride. The man's name is Hyde.

Mr. Utterson the lawyer had a rough face that never smiled.
He was cold and awkward when he talked, and he did not show his feelings.
He was thin, tall, dull, and a little boring, but people still liked him.
At friendly meetings, when he enjoyed wine, you could see something very human in his eyes.
This feeling never showed in his words. It showed on his face after dinner, and also in his kind actions.
Bio je veoma strog prema samom sebi.
He was very strict with himself.
When he was alone, he drank gin instead of good wine, to punish himself for liking good wine too much.
